A sun-drenched home in the Ionian hills,
where the days are long and the pace is yours
The House
Lilac House sits in the quiet village of Ratzakli, perched on the sun-soaked slopes of southern Kefalonia with views stretching across olive groves to the Ionian Sea and the island of Zakynthos beyond. It's the kind of place where mornings start slowly — coffee on the terrace, the sound of cicadas, the pool catching the light.
This is a traditional Greek villa with thick stone walls, terrazzo floors, and green shutters that open to the breeze. We've made it comfortable and well-equipped without losing the character — a proper kitchen for long evening meals, a shaded pergola for afternoon reading, and a private pool for the heat of the day.
Sandy Kaminia Beach is a short walk downhill. The village restaurant Avli — one of the best on the island — is a hundred metres from the front door. And the lively waterfront of Skala and the fishing harbour at Katelios are both just a few minutes' drive.

Ratzakli sits between two of Kefalonia's best-loved coastal villages, with sandy beaches, fresh seafood, and mountain trails all within easy reach. Here are some of our favourite spots.
1 km · 15 min walk
A sheltered sandy beach with crystal-clear shallow water — perfect for families. Walk down through olive groves or drive and park by the shore.
100 metres
Your neighbour and one of the island's hidden gems. Authentic Greek cooking with ingredients from local farms — the kind of place you'll return to every evening.
1 km · at the beach
Fantastic beachfront taverna right on the sand at Kaminia. Fresh seafood, cold drinks with your feet practically in the water. The perfect reward after the walk down from the house.
3 km
A quiet fishing village with waterfront tavernas serving the day's catch. Watch for loggerhead turtles on nearby Mounda Beach — a protected nesting site.
3 km
A lively resort village with a long sandy beach, shops, bars, and restaurants. The Roman villa ruins and old pine forest are worth exploring on foot.
25 km
Kefalonia's highest peak and a national park. Hike through the unique Abies cephalonica fir forest with sweeping views across the Ionian islands.
55 km
Regularly voted one of the most beautiful beaches in Greece — dramatic white cliffs plunging into impossibly turquoise water. A full-day trip worth making.
35 km
An underground lake inside a collapsed cave. When the midday sun hits the water, the whole cavern glows electric blue. Take a short boat ride through the centre.
38 km
The island capital, with a bustling harbour, daily fish market, museums, and the famous De Bosset bridge. Good for a day's shopping and a harbourside lunch.
70 km
The only village to survive the 1953 earthquake intact. Venetian-coloured houses line a yacht-filled harbour — Kefalonia at its most picturesque.
